Ibn Jarir related from Ahmad b. Mansur and Abu `Amir al-`Aqadi; also Ibn Abi `Asim related from Sulayman al-Ghulabi, Abu `Amir al-`Aqadi, Kathir b. Zayd, their saying: Muhammad b. `Umar b. `Ali told me that his father and grandfather, ‘Ali, told him that the Messenger of Allah was under the tree at Khumm and said what is in the hadith, which had the phrase ‘To whoever I am his master, ‘Ali is his master’.
