وروى الحافظ الهيثمي في مجمع الزوايد ج 9 ص 107 من طريق البزار عن سعد ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أخذ بيد علي ‏فقال: ألست أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم؟ من كنت وليه فعلي وليه. ثم قال الهيثمي: رواه البزار ورجاله ثقات.‏
