أخرج الحافظ النسائي في خصايصه باسناده عن مهاجر بن مسمار بن سلمة عن عايشة بنت سعد، قالت: سمعت أبي يقول: سمعت ‏رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم الجحفة فأخذ بيد علي فخطب فحمد الله وأثنى عليه ثم قال: أيها الناس إني وليكم؟ قالوا: صدقت ‏يا رسول الله، ثم أخذ بيد على فرفعها فقال: هذا وليي، ويؤدي عني ديني، وأنا موالي من والاه، ومعادي من عاداه.‏
