حدثنا إبراهيم بن نائلة الأصبهاني ثنا إسماعيل بن عمرو البجلي ثنا يحيى بن سلمة بن كهيل عن أبيه عن أبي عبد الله الشيباني قال كنت جالسا في مجلس بني الأرقم فأقبل رجل من مراد يسير على دابته حتى وقف على المجلس فسلم فقال أفي القوم زيد قالوا نعم هذا زيد فقال أنشدك بالله الذي لا إله إلا هو يا زيد أسمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول لعلي من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه اللهم وال من والاه وعاد من عاداه قال نعم فانصرف عنه الرجل (5/ 194)

Ibrahim b. Na’ilah al-Isbahani narrated to us that Isma`il b. `Amr al-Bajali related to us that Yahya b. Salamah b. Kuhayl narrated to us from his father from Abi `Abdallah al-Shaybani who said:
I was sitting in the gathering of the Bani al-Arqam when a man from Murad approached slowly on his mount until he stopped at the gathering. He gave greetings, then said: "Is Zayd among the people?"
They said: "Yes, this is Zayd."
He said: "I adjure you by Allah, there is no god but Him, O Zayd did you hear the Messenger of Allah, blessings and salutations of Allah on him, say to `Ali: Of whomsoever I am master, `Ali is his master. O Allah befriend the one who befriends him and be at enmity with the one who is hostile to him?" He said: "Yes." Then the man departed. (194/5)
