ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال يوما : أللهم من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه، أللهم ؟ وال من والاه ، وعاد من عاداه . فسمع ذلك ‏واحد من الكفرة من جملة الخوارج فجاء إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال : يا محمد ؟ هذا من عندك أو من عند الله ؟ فقال النبي ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم : هذا من عند الله فخرج الكافر من المسجد وقام على عتبة الباب وقال : إن كان ما يقوله حقا فأنزل علي حجرا ‏من السماء ، قال : فنزل حجر فرضخ رأسه. فنزل قوله: (سأل سائل) الاية.‏
