The author wrote: Abu `Abd Allah al-Shirazi related from Abu Sa`id al-Khudri through Abu Bakr al-Jurjani, Abu Ahmad al-Basri, `Ammar b. Khalid, Yahya b. al-Hamid al-Himmani, Qays b. al-Rabi`and Ahmad b. Abu Harun al-`Abdi, his saying: “ When this verse ‘ Today I have perfected your religion’ was revealed the Messenger of Allah [s] said: ‘ Glory be to Allah for the perfection of the religion, the completion of the favor, His satisfaction with my mission and for choosing 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (s) as my successor.’ He added: ‘ For whoever I am his master, 'Ali is his master. O' God, love those who love him, be hostile to those who are hostile to him, defend those who defend him and forsake those who forsake him.”
