وقال الذهبي بترجمة أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام: وشهد له النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بالجنة، وقال: من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه. قال له: ‏أنت مني بمنزلة هارون من موسى إلا أنه لا نبي بعدي. وقال: لا يحبك إلا مؤمن ولا يبغضك إلا منافق. ومناقب هذا الامام جمة، أفردتها ‏في مجلد وسميته بفتح المطالب في مناقب علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه.‏


In Imam ‘Ali’s biography al-Dhahabi wrote: The Prophet [s] acknowledged his candidacy for Paradise, and said: ‘To whoever I am a master ‘Ali is his master.’ He also said to him: ‘ You are to me what Aaron was to Moses.’ And also: ‘ Only a believer loves you, and only a hypocrite hates you.’ To this Imam’s numerous virtues I devoted a book I called “ Fath al-Matalib fi Manaqib ‘Ali b. Abi Talib”.
