روى في كتاب - دعاة الهداة إلى أداء حق الموالاة - فقال: قرأت على أبي بكر محمد بن محمد الصيدلاني فأقر به، حدثكم أبومحمد ‏عبدالله بن أحمد بن جعفر الشيباني، حدثنا عبدالرحمن بن الحسين الاسدي، حدثنا إبراهيم بن الحسين الكسائي ( إبن ديزيل )، حدثنا ‏الفضل بن دكين، حدثنا سفيان بن سعيد (الثوري)، حدثنا منصور عن ربعي عن حذيفة بن اليمان قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه ‏وسلم لعلي عليه السلام: من كنت مولاه فهذا علي مولاه. قال النعمان‎ ‎ابن المنذر (فيه تصحيف ) الفهري: هذا شئ قلته من عندك؟ أو ‏شئ أمرك به ربك؟ قال: لا. بل أمرني به ربي. فقال: أللهم أنزل (كذا في النسخ ) علينا حجارة من‎ ‎السماء. فما بلغ رحله حتى جاءه ‏حجر فأدماه فخر ميتا فأنزل الله تعالى: سأل سائل بعذاب واقع.‏
