روى في "شواهد التنزيل لقواعد التفصيل والتأويل" باسناده عن الكلبي عن أبي صالح عن إبن عباس وجابر الانصاري قالا: أمر الله تعالى ‏محمدا صلى الله عليه وسلم أن ينصب عليا للناس فيخبرهم بولاية فتخوف النبي أن يقولوا: حابى إبن عمه وأن يطعنوا في ذلك عليه فأوحى ‏الله: يا أيها الرسول بلغ ما انزل اليك من ربك. الآية. فقام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بولايته يوم غدير خم.‏
