Sharik narrated to us from Abi Ishaq, who reported from Sa’id bin Wahb, who in turn reported Zayd bin Yuthay’ saying:
"Ali got informed that some people are talking [negatively] about him.” He continued: “Ali thus ascended the pulpit and proclaimed: ‘I ask for God's sake a person - and I beseech not but the one from among the companions of Muhammad - who has heard something [a talk] from the Prophet, to come forward and affirm the Fact! Thus six people next to Ali and other six following Sa’id bin Wahb stood up and said: “We give witness that The Messenger of Allah had declared: “Of whosoever I am the master, then Ali is his master. O' Allah! befriend the one who befriends him, and be hostile to the one who shows hostility towards him.”
