روى إبن الاثير في اسد الغابة ج 3 ص 307 عن الحافظ إبن عقدة عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن إسحاق الراشدي، حدثنا محمد بن خلف ‏النميري، حدثنا علي بن الحسن العبدي عن الاصبغ قال، نشد علي الناس في الرحبة من سمع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم غدير خم ما ‏قال إلا قام. ولا يقوم إلا من سمع رسول الله يقول، فقام بضعة عشر رجلا فيهم أبوأيوب الانصاري، وأبوعمرة بن عمرو بن محصن، ‏وأبوزينب (ابن عوف الانصاري) وسهل بن حنيف، وخزيمة بن ثابت،‎ ‎وعبدالله بن ثابت الانصاري، وحبشي بن جنادة الصلولي، ‏وعبيد بن عازب الانصاري، والنعمان بن عجلان الانصاري، وثابت بن وديعة الانصاري، وأبوفضالة الانصاري، وعبدالرحمن بن عبد ‏رب الانصاري، فقالوا: نشهد أنا سمعنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: ألا من كنت مولا فعلي مولاه، أللهم وال من والاه، ‏وعاد من عاداه، وأحب من أحبه وأبغض من أبغضه، وأعن من أعانه.‏
