في (بحار الانوار) نقلا عن المناقب لابن شهر اشوب: فضائل أحمد، وأحاديث أبي بكر بن مالك، وإبانة ابن بطة، وكشف الثعلبي - عن ‏البراء قال: لما أقبلنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في حجة الوداع، كنا بغدير خم فنادى أن الصلاة جامعة، وكسح للنبي صلى ‏الله عليه وسلم تحت شجرتين، فأخذ بيد علي فقال: ألست أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم؟ قالوا: بلى يا رسول الله، فقال: أولست أولى ‏من كل مؤمن بنفسه؟ قالوا: بلى. قال: هذا مولى من أنا مولاه، اللهم وال من والاه وعاد من عاداه، قال: فلقيه عمر بن الخطاب فقال ‏له: هنيئا لك يا ابن أبي طالب أصبحت مولى كل مؤمن ومؤمنة.‏
