Sharik narrated to us from Hanash bin al-Harith, who reported Ribah bin al-Harith saying:

"While Ali was seated at Ruhba, suddenly there came a man with signs of journey on his face, and said: ‘Peace be upon you O' my master!. Ali thus inquired: ‘Who is this [man]?

The people around replied: this is Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari. Abu Ayyub thus said: ‘I have indeed heard the Messenger of Allah saying: ‘Of whosoever I am the master, then Ali is his master’.
