Abú Bakr narrated to us that Sharík narrated to us from Abí Yazíd al-Awdí from his father who said:
Abu Hurayra entered the mosque and the people gathered around him. A young man stood up and said: "I adjure you by Allah, did you hear the Messenger of Alláh say: ‘Of whomsoever I am master (mawla) ’Ali is his master. O Allah, befriend one who befriends him and be at enmity with one who is at enmity with him?’" He said: He [Abú Hurayra] said: "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Alláh say: ‘Of whomsoever I am master, ’Ali is his master. O Allah, befriend one who befriends him and be at enmity with one who is at enmity with him’".
