أبوعلي الحسن بن علي بن محمد التميمي الواعظ المعروف بابن المذهب المتوفى 444 عن 89 سنة، ترجمه الخطيب في تاريخه ج 7‏‎ ‎ص ‏‏390 وقال: كان صحيح السماع لمسند أحمد عن القطيعي إلا في أجزاء منه فانه ألحق إسمه فيها، قال إبن كثير في البداية والنهاية ج ‏‏12 ص 94: قال إبن الجوزي: وليس هذا بقدح في سماعه لانه إذا تحقق سماعه جاز أن يلحق إسمه فيما تحقق سماعه له.‏
