Relied upon by: Ahmad Abi Dawud Bukhari Darimi Ibn Majah Malik Muslim Nasa'i Tirmidhi Abu Nu`aym has counted him amongst the awliya'. [Tadhkirat al-huffaz, al-Dhahabi, Shams al-Din Muhammad b. Ahmad b. `Uthman, Abu `Abd Allah, Haydarabad: Da'irat al-ma`arif al-nizamiyyah, 1333 AH, v. 1, p. 47 ] Ahmad b. Hanbal and others have said that the mursalat of Sa`id (i.e. those traditions where he did not name the Companion) are authentic. Ibn al-Madani said: I am not aware of any Successor with wider knowledge than him. In my view, he was the most lofty of the Successors.
