[al-Jawahir al-Mudi'ah, Ibn Abi al-Wafa', Muhyi al-Din, Unidentified edition, , v. 1, p. 256 ] Considered Sharik to be Hanafi. [Tadhkirat al-huffaz, al-Dhahabi, Shams al-Din Muhammad b. Ahmad b. `Uthman, Abu `Abd Allah, Haydarabad: Da'irat al-ma`arif al-nizamiyyah, 1333 AH, v. 1, p. 210 ] Al-Dhahabi said: He was one of the leading scholars. He narrated good traditions. He was an imam, a jurist (faqih), and a traditionist with numerous traditions, though he was not equal to Hammad b. Zayd in skill. Al-Bukhari has cited his tradition and Muslim has followed al-Bukhari in narrating from him. Yahya b. Ma`in has considered him reliable.
