He was responsible for the canal of Ma`qil. `Umar ibn al-Kha>>áb commanded him to excavate it and he did that and then he moved to Ba#rah, stayed ther and built a house there. He died there during the khalifate of Mu`áwiyah ibn Abí Sufyán while `Ubaydulláh ibn Ziyád was governor.
