One of the scholars of tradition. From him have narrated al-Bukhárí, Ahmad [b. \anbal], Ibn Ma`ín, and Ibn Abí Shaybah. A<mad [b. \anbal] said: I do not know of a better scholar than him who has come from Khurásán.
