نجم الدين محمد بن القاضي عبدالله بن عبدالرحمن الاذرعي ( الزرعي ) الدمشقي الشافعي المعروف بابن عجلون المولود 831 والمتوفى 876، ‏قال السخاوي في ضوءه اللامع ج 8 ص 6 : كان إماما علامة متقنا حجة ضابطا جيد الفهم لكن حافظته أجود دينا عفيفا وافر العقل. ‏وذكر مشايخ قراء‌ته في الفقه واصوله والحديث والتفسير والمنطق والعربية وعد تصانيفه، وترجمه عبدالحي في شذراته ج 7 ص 322 وقال: ‏انه الامام العلامة أخذ عن علماء عصره وبرع ومهر أخذ عنه من لا يحصى، وتوجه ترجمته في البدر الطالع ج 2 ص 197.‏
