Ibn `Adí said: He is so famous, trustworthy and reliable that nothing more can be said about him. Ibn \ajar has quoted Ibn Ma`ín, Ibn Sa`d, Ibn Kharrásh and Ibn Qáni` to show `Affán's reliability.

Al-`Ijlí said: `Affán was reliable, trustworthy, a man of Sunnah (#á<ib al-Sunnah). Abú \átim said: `Affán was reliable, perfect, and solid [in his field].
