Al-Dhahabí said: He was a great imám, a judge in Egypt, and one of its scholars and traditionists. A<mad [b. \anbal] said: There was no equal in Egypt of Ibn Lahí`ah in abundance of traditions and in accuracy and skill. A<mad b. @áli< said: He had a good book [of traditions] and was always in search of knowledge.
