أبوإسحاق أحمد بن محمد بن إبراهيم الثعلبي النيسابوري المفسر المشهور المتوفى 427 / 37 ، ترجمه إبن خلكان في تاريخه ج 1 ص 22 ‏وقال : كان أوحد زمانه في علم التفسير وصنف التفسير الكبير الذي فاق غيره من التفاسير ، وذكره الفارسي في تاريخ نيسابور وقال : هو ‏صحيح النقل موثوق به ، حدث عن أبي طاهر إبن خزيمة والامام أبي بكر إبن مهران المقري ، وكان كثير الحديث كثير الشيوخ
