ألقاضي أحمد بن الحسين بن أحمد أبوالحسن المعروف بابن السماك البغدادي المتوفى 424 عن 95 سنة، كان رجلا كبيرا، وكان له مجلس ‏وعظ يتكلم فيه في جامع المنصور قاله الخطيب في تاريخه ج 4 ص 110.‏
