ونذكر هنا ترجمته عن الحافظ السيوطي حيث قال: وأبوبكر الشافعي، الامام الحجة المفيد محدث العراق، محمد بن عبد الله بن إبراهيم ‏بن عبدويه البغدادي البزاز، ولد سنة 260 . . قال الخطيب: ثقة ثبت حسن التصنيف، جمع أبوابا وشيوخا، وأملى في حياة ابن ‏صاعد. مات في ذي الحجة سنة 354.‏

ألحافظ محمد بن عبدالله الشافعي البزاز البغدادي المتوفى 354 والمولود 260 ، ترجمه الخطيب في تاريخه ج 5 ص 456 وقال : كان ثقة ثبتا ‏كثير الحديث حسن التصنيف ، وحكى عن الدارقطني انه قال : كان ثقة مأمونا . وذكره الذهبي في تذكرته ج 3 ص 96 وقال : ثقة ثبت ‏مأمون ما كان في ذلك الوقت أحد أوثق منه . وقال إبن كثير في تاريخه ج 11 ص 260 : كان ثقة ثبتا كثير الرواية ‏
