Relied upon by: A<mad Abí Dáwúd Bukhárí Dárimí Ibn Májah Málik Muslim Nasá'í Tirmidhí Abú Nu`aym has counted him amongst the awliyá'. [Tadhkirat al-<uffá~, al-Dhahabí, Shams al-Dín Mu<ammad b. A<mad b. `Uthmán, Abú `Abd Alláh, Haydarabad: Dá'irat al-ma`árif al-ni~ámiyyah, 1333 AH, v. 1, p. 47 ] A<mad b. \anbal and others have said that the mursalát of Sa`íd (i.e. those traditions where he did not name the Companion) are authentic. Ibn al-Madaní said: I am not aware of any Successor with wider knowledge than him. In my view, he was the most lofty of the Successors.
