What God Responds With When You Recite Surah Al-Fatihah

He narrates what Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala says: every line of Surat Ul-Fatihah that the person who is praying recites. How does Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala respond to him? You have to keep in mind, Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has all these other servants with better Ikhlas, better faith than this servant of his were reciting the same Surah. But He doesn't sit there and say, I have other servants. I don't really care about this one. There are servants who do more for Me. So what is this that you are bringing to My door?

No, He acknowledges it. This is a big deal for you. So the Hadith continues, it says: "Idha qala al-'abd Bismi-Llah, Al-Rahmani, Al-Rahim (1:1)". When the servant says, Bismi-Llah at the beginning of Surat Ul-Fatihah, look at how Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala acknowledges the effort of this individual. "Qala Allahu 'azza wa Jal", He says, "bada'a 'abdi bi Ismi", did you hear? He is speaking to the Mala'ka. Did you hear? He started his work, and he started his life with My name.

You have billions of servants, everyone. It's important for him. He's growing right now. It's important for me, too. He says: "bada'a 'abdi bi Ismi", number one, "wa haqqun alayha an utammima lahu umurahu", because he started with My name, therefore, I have to make sure that I take care of the ends of his affairs. I will take care of his affairs for him. "Wa utammima lahu umurahu, wa ubarika lahu fi awalihi". And I will bless him in the different situations that he is in, in life. Then the servant continues.

He says: "Fa idha qala al-hamdu lil-Lahi Rabbi al-‘Alamin (1:2)". When he moves on to the second line, you know, you and I, we just recite these, right? We don't know Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala responding to us. He says, when you recite the second line, "qala Allahu 'azza wa Jal: hamidani 'abdi", My servant, he praised Me. Did you hear that? So, He turns to the Mala'ika, He says, he is acknowledging that the blessings that he has is from Me. If we had a lack of a better term, how proud He is for His servants. He says: you see? He realizes these blessings that he has, it's not his, he knows it's Mine.

Because it's like this,"wa anna al-balaya allathi indufi'at anhu, fa bitatawli ush-hidukum", so I'm going to take all of you as My witness, all Angels be My witness. I'm going to do this now. "Anni udhifu lahu". I'm going to add to the blessings that he has in this Dunya, the blessings of Akhira as well. It's a big deal. In his life, it's a big deal. I'm going to make a big deal out of it as well.

He continues. He says, when the servant says, "Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim" (1:3), the third Verse, he says Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala says, "ush-hidukum", you all are my witness. This is so interesting. Every step of the way we recite these Verses, we have no idea what we are saying. There is a whole conversation happening.

He says, "ush-hidukum, kama tarafa, ush-hidukum la waffiranna min Rahmati hadhdhahu". He called Me Rahman and Rahim. This is a big deal. We have to celebrate. We have to make it a big deal for him. We will bless him with Our Mercy, even more. He moves on. "Fa idha qala Maliki Yawm id-Din" (1:4). He turns to the Mala'ika again. He says, "ush-hidukum", you all be My witness. "An kama tarafa 'anni Ana Maliki Yawm id-Din" the same way he said that I am the One who has power on the Day of Judgment, right? He is admitting to this, he says, Maliki Yawm id-Din, because of this, on the Day of Judgment, I'm gonna make his Hisab easy for him. This personalized attention.

He moves on. When he says: "Iyyaka na'budu" (1:5). He says "ush-hidukum", you all are my witnesses, that I am going to reward him, because of this 'ibada. "Iyyaka nasta'in" (1:5). Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala says I'm going to help him in times of difficulty. All of these, He is addressing who? He is addressing the Angels. Then he comes to "Ihdina as-Sirat Al-Mustaqim" (1:6), until the end of of the Surah, and Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala says: "li 'abdi ma sa'l" everything that he asked for of Me, I am going to give it to him.
