QUESTION:
Answer needed as per Ayt. Seestani:
Do you recite Surah Al-Hamd and the other Surah in jamaat namaaz
if your niyat is furadah, or do you keep silent?
ANSWER:
Ayatullah Seestani, Daamat Barakaatuhu, states: "When individual
intention is made during recitation, it is obligatory (upon the
worshipper) to recite (Al-Hamd & the 2nd Surah) from its beginning and
reciting only what remains (after changing intention) does not suffice,
according to precaution." [Al-Masaa`il Al-Muntakhabah, Issue #375]
Based on this, it is apparent that the person must recite for
him/herself when praying Furada in a congregation.
Wasalaam,
Ali Rasheed
