QUESTION:

Over the years I have heard various renditions of an hadith that states
that the Prophet Muhammad is the city and Imam Ali the door to that city. I
have also heard that Imam Hussein is the key to the door to that city. I would
sincerely appreciate knowing the correct and proper wording of these hadith.

ANSWER:

The most famous and accepted version of the hadith is the one which states
"I am the city of knowledge and Ali is it's gate"
