QUESTION:

My question is about the word ameen in salah. How come we do not say this
after surat al-Fatiha..as I honestly don't know how to properly justify
this, because if I tell the person questioning me that it is regular kalam,
I have been told well...but you talk during Qunoot. Jazakum Allah khair
al-jazaa for answering my question ahead of time..wa ja'alaha fee
mezan hassanatikum.


ANSWER:

Thank you for asking the above question.

Firstly, even the ahlul sunnah do not regard the saying of Ameen after the
recitation as mandatory. They rely upon a hadith of Abu Huraira that the
Holy Prophet (SAWA) had recommended this. The hadith is not authentic.

Secondly, Suratul Fateha is recited as a surah of the Holy Qur'an and not as
a supplication. It is improper to say 'Ameen' at the conclusion.

Any supplication should be made in Qunut.
