Thank you for your question. A day of celebration is that in which you are able to worship and serve Allah. On the birthday of the Prophet (saw) send copious blessings on him (saw) and his family (as). Serve your Muslim brothers and sisters and thank Allah for the blessing of the Prophet (saw) by working towards the goals he was sent to guide towards.

It is authentic in both Sunni and Shia books that the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) celebrated the birth of his grand children, Hasan, Husain and Zainab.

Celebrating the birth anniversary of the twelve Imams is highly recommended as it reminds us with the great teachings of Islam for which the whole life of the twelve Imams was dedicated and sacrificed.

1. The Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) himself use to celebrate his birth by fasting every Monday being the day of his birth.

The Infallible Imams used to celebrate and encourage the believers to celebrate through performing recommended deeds and acts on the day of the birth anniversary like fasting, performing Ghusl, Ziyarat etc. 

2. We do not have any evidence on celebrating the birthday of children or adults except of the Infallible and great personalities with them.
