قال في تاج العروس في عد معاني المولى: وايضا (الولي) الذي يلي عليك أمرك وهما بمعنى واحد منه الحديث: وأيما امرأة نكحت بغير إذن مولاها. ورواه بعضهم بغير إذن وليها، وروى إبن سلام عن يونس: إن المولى في الدين هو الولي وذلك قوله تعالي: ذلك بان الله مولى الذين آمنوا وان الكافرين لا مولى لهم أي لا ولي لهم ومنه الحديث: من كنت مولاه. أي من كنت وليه، وقال الشافعي: يحمل على ولاء الاسلام، وايضا (الناصر) نقله الجواهري وبه فسر ايضا من كنت مولاه. [العبرة بروايته للحديث لا ما سرده حول مفاده]
