No. We must ask and beg to Allah to forgive our sins. Without being humble to seek and beg to Allah for forgiveness, our sins will not be forgiven. Not asking Allah for forgiveness, means that the sinner is still arrogant even if he decides not committing the sin again, but as he has already committed the sin, he must seek and beg to Allah (SWT) for forgiveness.
1. Deep feeling of sorrow and sadness whenever you remember committing that sin. Such sorrow and sadness can make the sinner weep when he is alone especially at night and beg from Allah to forgiveness.
2. Firm decision not to do it again under any circumstances.
3. Repeating Istighfaar ( ASTAGHFIRULLAH) or it's meaning in your own language as many times as you can, day and night, especially during night and during prostration (Sojood).
There are different types of depression. Some of the depression cases can be avoided or treated by remembering Allah and sincerely seeking His Help. Some depression cases are out of control and can not be treated but by medical experts. Such uncontrolled depression is an illness like other uncontrolled illnesses. If the person loses control and goes out of his senses, then he will be considered behaving out of his senses. Allah only Knows the real feelings and status of the senses of people. Allah Judges people and we are not entitled to judge others. We just pray for the well-being of depressed people and for the forgiveness of late believers.
Their not taking revenge or not showing anger does not mean that you did not wrong them. We must seek forgiveness from everyone whom we wronged. Without that, we will be accountable in the Day of Judgement which is the hardest day for the sinners.
