As a Shia Muslim, I want to encourage two close friends to pray Salah, but they doubt its importance in daily life. What are effective ways to convey the benefits of Salah for both this world and the hereafter?

Every Muslim who believes in Allah (SWT) will clearly understand from Quran the great importance of praying Salah. Allah (SWT) Says in Sura Al-Room: Estabkish Salah and don't be from the polytheists (Mushrikeen) (Verse 31). Those who don't perform Salah are like the Mushrikeen. The Prophetic Hadeeth says: The difference between us (Muslims) and non Muslims is Salah, anyone who leaves Salah becomes like them.

Salah is the main link between human being and his Creator Allah which must be performed as Allah (SWT) Has ordered as an obligatory worship to remember Allah (SWT) as He Said in Quran (And establish Salah to remember Me) (Sura Taha, verse 14). Those who ignore Salah are ignoring Allah's order and disrespecting Him like telling Him: We have no time to talk to you !!!

Salah is like the Oxygen for our hearts and souls and minds and we can never live a peaceful life with out Salah which is the compulsory link between us and our Clreator Allah (SWT).

There are many Quranic verse and hundreds of Hadeeths about Salah which can help guiding Muslims to the crucial importance of Salah.

Is it allowed to pray to Allah (SWT) for becoming an Angel in the Hereafter to worship Him both in this world and the Hereafter, or would it be contrary to Allah's (SWT) desire and satisfaction?

Sincere and humble servants of Allah pray to Allah to help them to be more sincere servants of Allah, who are higher in their worship and degree than many angles.

If someone has a mental deficiency and passes away before experiencing a long life, will they still have a hereafter and participate in the Day of Judgment?

Allah is The Most Merciful on all His creatures. His Mercy on this person is much greater than your mercy on him. Allah will never punish a person who had mental deficiency which prevented him from knowing the truth and rules which are obligatory on usual persons. Allah’s Mercy will be much greater than our expectations.

What advice would you give to recent reverts to Islam who feel the weight of their numerous major sins and are really pessimistic about their fate in the hereafter despite saying “I’m sorry my lord” and then moving on?

The best answer is from Allah in Quran : Say O My servants who have transgressed against themselves ( by committing evil deeds and sins) Despair not of the Mercy of Allah. Verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly He is The Oft-forgiving , The Most Merciful) Sura 39, Verse 53.

The Mercy of Allah (SWT) is much greater than our imagination. It includes every thing (My Mercy embraces everything) Sura 7, Verse 156. Special mercy is for sincere servants servants of Allah who left wrong deeds and repented and sincerely decided not to do it again. Allah Love those who repent and purify themselves. Sura 2, Verse 222.

We need to trust The Mercy of Allah and hope to receive His Oft-Forgiveness. He Has Promised every one who repents and sincerely seeks forgiveness to Grant him His Forgiveness.

'It is good to repeat (YA ARHAM ARRAHIMEEN) also to repeat (YA GHAFOUR YA RAHEEM).
