Wherever you are, and whichever country you may be in, if its non-Muslim country, or even in some cases Muslim country, it is important to check and verify the ingredients of it is not made by Muslim manufacturer.

1. If it does not have anything haram, and you have assurance that there is no shar'i issue with it, you can consider it halal.

2. Ihtiyat is always good. If you are uncomfortable about a certain product, being halal or haram, best to avoid.

3. It is not you absolute duty to investigate, and pry into everything, but you cannot easily turn away from it as well.

Try to stick with things you know are made in Muslim country. Try to find alternatives, and remember that with the difficulty you endure, you will be rewarded more.

Any type of gambling is not permissible even in sports.
Prize money taken from the loser for the winner is not allowed.

Prize money donated by the organizers as a gift for the winner is allowed.

Entry fee tournaments is permissible.

Winner-take-all matches should not cause loss to the loser.

If food containing haram meat (for example, dumplings where the meat is fully enclosed and does not touch the cooking oil) is fried, does the cooking oil remain halal?

Meat inside the dumpling is usually cooked by the heat of the cooking oil, that is why such oil touches the meat in direct or indirect way, so, if the meat was non Halal, the cooking oil will not remain Tahir.

Is it permissible to invest in a company that primarily engages in Halal activities but has minor Haram elements, such as receiving interest income?

If the income of the company is a mixture between lawful and unlawful, then we must avoid investing in such company. Receiving interest from non Muslim banks is not considered unlawful according to many Muslim scholars.

I wanted to add that it is very nice of you to take the trouble to look into what he should or should not be eating, and he is fortunate to have a supportive parent. I do sympathize with the dietary restrictions and allergies.

If it is available and affordable, and if you have storage space and can take delivery at home, halal meat can sometimes be purchased online. You may have already looked into that, but just putting it out there!

If he is still non-baligh, non-mukallaf, he can eat it, but I would definitely not recommend such a thing. We believe that non-halal food has a deep impact on the human spirit and mind, and even physical impact. Try to find alternatives for him, without compromising, and instill in him the importance of halal food, and sacrifices a Muslim makes for the sake of his/her religion and obedience to Almighty God who put all these laws and rulings for reasons that will benefit us.

Income . Haram . Halal . Khums . Oppression

In Western countries, companies serve both oppressors and others. What is the ruling on the income generated from these companies? Can it be considered Halal by paying Khums, given that not all customers are oppressors?

Companies with mixed income (Lawful and unlawful income) should not be involved in killing or supporting killers of innocents or dealing with alcohol, pork, gambling etc. Working in such mixed income companies then is considered lawful.
