Abd al-Basit Abd al-Samad
‘Abdul-Basit ‘Abdel-Samad (Armant; Egypt, 1927 – 30 November 1988) (عبد الباسط عبد الصمد), was an Egyptian Qari, Sheikh and Imam who had won three world Qira'at competitions in the early 1970s.

Maulana Syed Ali Raza Rizvi was born in Lahore, Pakistan and raised in Birmingham, UK. His initial religious education began in Birmingham. Then he moved to Qum, Iran, for higher education and studied at the Howzah for several years and graduated in 1998 with dual Masters in Islamic Studies and Arabic. He has written and translated several books in English.
