The Clothes, Food & Drink in Hell!
The first thing to know is the clothing of the people of Hell. According to their chapter 22, verse 19: "fa alladheena kafaru qutti'at lahum thiyabum min naar (22: 19). They are garments made out of fire. Made out of fire; the garments itself is made out of fire. And in fact the word that is used in the Qur'an is "qataran2, which is a combustible material, every time they wear it, it explodes upon them. And so they continuously are adorning it.
What about food? You might wonder, do they eat? Yes, they eat. The Qur'an tells us they eat what is known as Thari'a. Thari'a is bitter, foul smelling, poisonous bones, that they are forced to eat because they are hungry. They do not find anything except these thorns, which are extremely bitter and poisonous.
But what about drink? The drink the Qur'an tells us because it causes excessive thirst, these thorns, they go and drink what is known as Ghaslene and Ghasaq. What is Ghaslene and Ghasaq? Ghaslene is one's own puss that emerges from their own body. It is the blood that comes out from the body, and one's own excrement. That is Ghaslene and Ghasaq.
People drinking that, their own pus. But then they are so disgusted that they want to eat something. The Qur'an says then they go to a tree known as Shajarat uz-Zaqqum. "Inna Shajarat uz-Zaqqumi" (44:43), "ta'am al-atheem" (44:44). This is in a state that they are burning, that fire is engulfing them, yet they still feel the need to eat, though when they go to this Shajara. The Qur'an says this tree, Ra'suha, the branches of the tree looks like Shaytans. When they eat from this tree, their bellies will explode because the oil that comes from it will cause their stomachs to explode. According to the Qur'an.
Now at this time Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala says whilst they are doing this process, they will be poured. The hot, scolding and boiling water will be poured over their heads. But the water that is poured through their heads: "bi ma'in [ka 'l-muhli] yashwi al-wuju'" (18:29). Their faces will, then what? Will go through extreme burning: yashwi. It is like the grill or the temperature will be so high that their faces and their skins will be burned.
Now, the Qur'an says that their skins will go through continuous change. That is indicative of the pain and suffering which does not cease. There is no respite. There is no breather, from the food to the clothes, to the drink, to the places, to the levels. Now there is another punishment that is mentioned in Riwayat that they start to run away. Qur'an in fact, tells us they want to leave Jahannam, but they are not able to.
They reach a particular point which they find that there is a breeze coming. So they continue towards it whilst engulfed in fire. And they reach a place of extreme cold weather. That their body, their bones break and shatter due to their excessive cold. Hence they feel they need to get back to the fire because of the excessive cold that they encounter.
Now the Qur'an is presenting us this in order for us to take heed, in order for us to wake up. And for us to understand that there are individuals in history who have neglected this and indeed they deserve the punishment of God.
If Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has presented this before you and I, we have no excuse to say on the Day of Judgement: Ya, Allah, I did not know. Ya Allah I was not aware...
Het eerste dat we moeten weten is de kleding van de mensen van de Hel. Volgens hun hoofdstuk 22, vers 19: "fa alladheena kafaru qutti'at lahum thiyabum min naar (22:19). Het zijn gewaden gemaakt van vuur. Gemaakt uit vuur; de kleding zelf is gemaakt uit vuur. En in feite is het woord dat in de Koran wordt gebruikt "qataran2, wat een brandbaar materiaal is, elke keer als ze het dragen, ontploft het op hen. En dus versieren ze het voortdurend.
Hoe zit het met eten? Je vraagt je misschien af, eten ze? Ja, ze eten. De Koran vertelt ons dat ze Thari'a eten. Thari'a zijn bittere, stinkende, giftige botten die ze gedwongen worden te eten omdat ze honger hebben. Ze vinden niets behalve deze doornen, die extreem bitter en giftig zijn.
Maar hoe zit het met drinken? De drank die de Koran ons vertelt omdat het overmatige dorst veroorzaakt, deze doornen, zij gaan drinken wat bekend staat als Ghaslene en Ghasaq. Wat is Ghaslene en Ghasaq? Ghaslene is iemands eigen pus dat uit zijn eigen lichaam komt. Het is het bloed dat uit het lichaam komt en de eigen uitwerpselen. Dat is Ghaslene en Ghasaq.
Mensen die dat drinken, hun eigen pus. Maar dan walgen ze er zo van dat ze iets willen eten. De Koran zegt dan dat ze naar een boom gaan die bekend staat als Shajarat uz-Zaqqum. "Inna Shajarat uz-Zaqqumi" (44:43), "ta'am al-atheem" (44:44). Dit is in een staat dat ze branden, dat vuur hen overspoelt, maar toch voelen ze de behoefte om te eten, hoewel wanneer ze naar deze Shajara gaan. De Koran zegt deze boom, Ra'suha, de takken van de boom lijken op Shaytans. Als ze van deze boom eten, zullen hun buiken ontploffen omdat de olie die ervan afkomt hun magen zal doen ontploffen. Volgens de Koran.
Nu op dit moment zegt Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala terwijl ze dit proces doen, zullen ze worden overgoten. Het hete, scheldende en kokende water zal over hun hoofden worden gegoten. Maar het water dat door hun hoofden wordt gegoten: "bi ma'in [ka 'l-muhli] yashwi al-wuju'" (18:29). Hun gezichten zullen, wat dan? Zullen extreem verbranden: yashwi. Het is alsof de grill of de temperatuur zo hoog zal zijn dat hun gezichten en hun huiden zullen verbranden.
De Koran zegt dat hun huiden voortdurend zullen veranderen. Dat duidt op de pijn en het lijden dat niet ophoudt. Er is geen uitstel. Er is geen adempauze, van het voedsel tot de kleding, tot de drank, tot de plaatsen, tot de niveaus. Er is nog een straf die in Riwayat wordt genoemd, namelijk dat ze beginnen weg te lopen. De Koran vertelt ons in feite dat zij Jahannam willen verlaten, maar dat zij daartoe niet in staat zijn.
Ze bereiken een bepaald punt waar ze merken dat er een briesje aankomt. Dus gaan ze verder terwijl ze in vuur en vlam staan. En ze bereiken een plek waar het extreem koud is. Dat hun lichaam, hun botten breken en versplinteren door de extreme kou. Daarom voelen ze dat ze terug moeten naar het vuur vanwege de extreme kou die ze ervaren.
De Koran legt ons dit voor zodat we op onze hoede zijn, zodat we wakker worden. En voor ons om te begrijpen dat er individuen in de geschiedenis zijn die dit hebben verwaarloosd en zij verdienen inderdaad de bestraffing van God.
Als Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala dit aan jou en mij heeft voorgelegd, hebben we geen excuus om op de Dag des Oordeels te zeggen: Ya Allah, ik wist het niet. Ya Allah, ik wist het niet
