How can we describe the character of Ali?
'Ali's character is something special. And this is why poets for thousands of years, they have shown their affection to Ali Ibn Abi Talib, including the famous Muhammad Ibn Idris, Al-Imam As-Shafi'i of the Sunni school of thought, that has written poems, and composed poems in the love of the Ahl ul-Bayt and in the love of 'Ali.
In one of them beautifully, he says, they come to me, they say that I have lost my faith. "Qalu tarffadhdhta! Qultu: kalla!" They come to me, they say, Muhammad bin Idris, you have lost your faith, you have left the realm of Islam at this point. You have become Rafidhi now. You love Ali too much. "Qultu: kalla!", I tell them no, I tell them leaving the religion is not part of what I do. Yes. "Ma arraftu dini, wa la iftiqadi".
So what is the problem, Muhammad bin Idris, what is the problem? He says, but if you really want to know, though, let me tell you this: "law kana hubb ul-waliyi. If the love of Ali is a form of rafidha, it's a form of rejecting the religion, let me tell you something: "fa innani arfadhu al-'ibadi", I am the one who is the most disobedient of servants you will ever come across. If that's what you call disbelief, I am "arfadhu al-'ibad", I am the most disobedient, and disbelieving servant that you will come across, because the love that I have for 'Ali is something special!
And no one has described Ali Ibn Abi Talib better than the words of Jibra'il himself. In the battle of Uhud, when the Prophet was in that critical moment, and the Qur'an says: the companions were running, "idh tus'edoona wa la talwwoona 'ala ahadin" (3:153), you weren't even looking back as the Prophet was calling you for help, and 'Ali stood there and fought.
And Jibrail looked at the scene and said: "la fata illa 'Ali, la sayfa illa Dhul Fiqar". There is no warrior like Ali, there is no sword like Dhul Fiqar.

'Qultu: kalla!', sagte ich ihnen. Ich sagte: 'Nein, das Verlassen der Religion gehört nicht zu dem, was ich tue. Ma arraftu dini, wa la iftiqadi'.
'Was ist also das Problem, Muhammad bin Idris, was ist das Problem?' Er sagt: 'Aber wenn du es wirklich wissen willst, dann lass es mich dir sagen: Law kana hubb ul-waliyi. Wenn die Liebe zu Ali eine Form von rafidha ist, eine Form der Ablehnung der Religion, dann lass mich dir etwas sagen: Fa innani arfadhu al-'ibadi, ich bin der ungehorsamste Diener, dem du je begegnen wirst. Wenn du das Unglauben nennst, dann bin ich arfadhu al-'ibad, ich bin der ungehorsamste und ungläubigste Diener, dem du begegnen wirst. Denn die Liebe, die ich für 'Ali empfinde, ist etwas Besonderes!' ".
Und nichts hat Ali Ibn Abi Talib besser beschrieben als die Worte von Jibra'il selbst. In der Schlacht von Uhud, als der Prophet in diesem kritischen Moment war, und der Koran sagt: "Die Gefährten rannten, idh tus'edoona wa la talwwoona 'ala ahadin, hast du nicht einmal zurückgeschaut, als der Prophet dich um Hilfe rief (3:153). Und 'Ali stand da und kämpfte.
