Imam Husayn’s First Words in Childhood
Bismi-Llah, Al-Rahmani, Al-Rahim [I begin in the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Beneficient]. La hawla wa la quwwata illa bi-Llahi al- 'Aliyy al-'Adheem [There is no power and no strength except with Allah]. Al-hamdulil-Lahi Rabbi al-'Alamin [Praise be to the Lord of the worlds]. Wa salla Allahu 'ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa 'alihi at-tayibin wa at-tahirin [Peace and Blessings be upon our Master Muhammad and his Pure progeny] [Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa ali Muhammad]
As-salam 'ala al-Husayn, wa 'ala 'Ali ibn al-Husayn, wa 'ala awlad al-Husayn, wa 'ala ashab al-Husayn, wa Rahmatu Allahi wa barakatu [Peace be with Husayn, upon his son 'Ali Ibn Husayn and his children and his companions and the Mercy and blessings of Allah be upon him].
I am very thankful to all of you for your contribution and for your presence and for holding this beautiful majlis [Islamic gathering] for 'Aba 'Abdillah, alayhi as-salam [Peace be upon him]. I would like to just share one story with you but before I share my story, I have one question. Is everyone listening? [Yes]
Ok, I ask a question and without saying anything, if you know the answer, just put in the chat and then we will see who gives the right answer. If you do not know, there is no problem. If you know, it is very good.
Do you know what was the very first word that Imam Husayn said? As a child, the very first word that he said. Without looking at what others have put, you can also put your idea and maybe what they said is not correct. You could put whatever you think or you have heard.
It is something about Salat [ritual daily prayer]. Do you know how we start salat? What should we say at the first... Beginning of salat?
[Lots of answers are coming through on the chat, Shaykhna] Very good. Very good.
Such as MashaAllah [what Allah has willed], Allah, Bismi Allah [I begin in the name of Allah], Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest], Muhammad, La ilaha illa Allah [there is no God truly worthy of worship except Allah], I want to go to Kufa, Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest], Takbirat al-ihram. Lots of Allahu Akbar.
Very good. So the answer can be understood from this hadith [narration] that I am mentioning, inshAllah [with the will of Allah].
So this is a beautiful story. According to our hadith, when Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam was a child, he started speaking very late and some people even were worried that he may never speak. You know some children speak very early, some people later but Imam Husayn was more than other children late in starting to speak.
One day, Rasul Allah salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi wa sallam [May Allah's peace and blessings be upon him] took him with himself to masjid [mosque]. The hadith says that actually, Rasul Allah carried him on his shoulder, on his 'atiq'. And then when Rasul Allah wanted to lead the Salat [ritual daily prayer], he put Imam Husayn on his right side. Imam Husayn, although he is not still able to speak, but he wanted to say Salat [ritual daily prayer] with Rasul Allah. He loved Rasul Allah, he loved Salat, he loved Salat al-Jama'ah [congregational prayers]. So what happened was Rasul Allah said, Allahu Akbar!-'Takbirat al-Ihram' is the first part of Salat which is wajib [mandatory]. We cannot start Salat without saying Allahu Akbar.
What does Allahu Akbar mean? It means... Allah is great. Allah is greater than anything that we can say, any description.
So Rasul Allah said Allahu Akbar [Allah is great] and Imam Husayn also said it, but not completely or not as he wanted. And Rasul Allah repeated and again Imam Husayn said, but not again perfectly. Rasul Allah said, Allahu Akbar seven times and then at that seventh time, Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam said it perfectly.
And this remained in the memory of the people of Madinah that Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam behind the Prophet said 'takbirat al-ihram and Rasul Allah repeated seven times and Husayn alayhi as-salam repeated after him till it became perfect.
It became a sunnah [prophetic practice] that it is mustahab [recommended] that when you want to start Salah, you say seven times. Once is wajib [mandatory], six times is Mustahab [recommended]. Of course, there are other reasons about why it is seven but one part of the story is this.
The hadith is this. There are two hadiths. One is, Imam Baqir alayhi as-salam says, 'Kharaja Rasulallah salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi wa sallam 'ila as-salat wa qad kana al-Husayn Ibn 'Ali 'alayhi as-salam abta'a 'ani al-kalam'- Imam Baqir alayhi as-salam says that-'Rasul Allah went towards Salat [ritual daily prayer] and this was when Imam Husayn had delayed speaking.' 'hatta takhawwafu an la yatakallam wa an yakuna bihi kharasun'- 'To the extent that some people were worried that he may never speak.'
'fa kharaja bihi Rasul Allah hamilahu 'ala atiqihi wa saffan al-nasu khalfah'-'Rasul Allah carried Imam Husayn on his shoulder, went to Masjid, and people were staying in rows behind Rasul Allah for Salat.' 'fa aqamahu Rasul Allah 'ala yaminihi'-'so Rasul Allah put Imam Husayn on his right side.' 'fa ftataha Rasul Allah as-salat'- 'Rasul Allah started Salat.' 'Fa kabbara al-Husayn hatta kabbara Rasul Allah sab'ah takbirat wa kabbara al-Husayn'- 'so every time Imam Husayn was saying Takbir and this continued seven times.' 'Fajarati as-sunnatu bi dhalik'-'and this became sunnah [prophetic practice]'.
In another hadith, Imam Sadiq alayhi as-salam says that is something similar but a little variation, that: 'Inna Rasul Allah kana fi as-salat ila janibihi al-Husayn Ibn 'Ali, fa kabbara Rasul Allah fa lam yuhiri al-Husayn al-takbir -'Rasul Allah said Takbir but Imam Husayn 'lam yuhir' means he did not manage to say it well. 'fa lam yazal Rasul Allah yukabbir wa yu'aliju al-Husayn'-'Imam Husayn did not say Okay, I do not say takbir. No, he kept saying, and this is a good lesson for us.
When we are not able to do something well, we need to repeat, we need to continue, do not feel shy, till we can master it. So Imam Husayn as a child kept trying. 'Hatta akmala sab'ah takbirat fa ahara al-Husayn'-'Then Imam Husayn managed to say it well - fi as-sabi'ah' [the seventh time].
So this beautiful story has many points. One aspect of it is the close relation between Imam Husayn and the Prophet salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam. How much Prophet loved children and even he was carrying his grandchild with him on his shoulder taking him to Salat. Although people were there watching, but Prophet did not feel anything wrong to show this much love and respect.
And then repeating 'Takbirat al-ihram' so that this child can say it well. Also shows that how Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam from a very young age was committed to Salat [ritual daily prayer]. Even if he was not able to say Salat, he was trying to attend Salat. And also the fact that he did not feel shy to say takbir [saying “Allahu Akbar”] and repeated it till it becomes well.
And also this shows that the very first word that Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam said was 'Allahu Akbar' [Allah is the Greatest]. I think this is not only the very first word that he said, this is also a summary of his life. All his life is a manifestation that Allah is greater than any description, than anything. And his last words are remembrance of Allah, dhikr [remembrance] of Allah, 'sabran 'ala bala'ika, rid'an bi qada'ik [patience upon the calamity upon me and submission to Your decree] and things like that.
May Allah inshAllah bless all of you with love for Imam Husayn. And with being, inshaAllah [with the will of Allah], true followers of Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam and all Ahlu Bayt and inshaAllah [with the will of Allah], good helpers of son of Imam Husayn, the grandson of Imam Husayn- Imam Mahdi ajal Allahu Ta'ala farajuhu ash-sharif [May Allah the Most High hasten his re-appearance].

Sehr gut. Die Antwort kann also aus diesem Hadith [Erzählung], den ich erwähne, verstanden werden, inshAllah [mit Allahs Willen].
Dies ist also eine schöne Geschichte. Unserem Hadith zufolge begann Imam Husayn, alayhi as-salam, als Kind sehr spät zu sprechen, und einige Leute waren sogar besorgt, dass er vielleicht nie sprechen würde. Ihr wisst, dass manche Kinder sehr früh sprechen, andere später, aber Imam Husayn begann mehr als andere Kinder spät zu sprechen.
Eines Tages nahm Rasul Allah salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi wa sallam [Allahs Friede und Segen seien auf ihm] ihn mit sich zur Masjid [Moschee]. Der Hadith besagt, dass Rasul Allah ihn tatsächlich auf seiner Schulter, auf seinem 'atiq', trug. Und dann, als Rasul Allah das Salat [rituelles tägliches Gebet] verrichten wollte, setzte er Imam Husayn auf seine rechte Seite. Imam Husayn war zwar nicht mehr in der Lage zu sprechen, aber er wollte das Salat [rituelles Tagesgebet] mit Rasul Allah verrichten. Er liebte Rasul Allah, er liebte das Salat, er liebte das Salat al-Jama'ah [gemeinschaftliches Gebet]. Also sagte Rasul Allah: "Allahu Akbar!" - "Takbirat al-Ihram" ist der erste Teil des Salats, der wajib [Pflicht] ist. Wir können das Salat nicht beginnen, ohne Allahu Akbar zu sagen.
Was bedeutet "Allahu Akbar"? Es bedeutet Allah ist groß. Allah ist größer als alles, was wir sagen können, jede Beschreibung.
Also sagte Rasul Allah Allahu Akbar [Allah ist groß] und Imam Husayn sagte es auch, aber nicht vollständig oder nicht so, wie er es wollte. Und Rasul Allah wiederholte es und Imam Husayn sagte es wieder, aber nicht wieder vollkommen. Rasul Allah sagte Allahu Akbar siebenmal, und beim siebten Mal sagte es Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam vollkommen.
Und dies blieb in der Erinnerung der Menschen von Madinah, dass Imam Husayn, Friede sei mit ihm, hinter dem Propheten 'takbirat al-ihram' sagte und Rasul Allah siebenmal wiederholte und Husayn, Friede sei mit ihm, nach ihm wiederholte, bis es vollkommen wurde.
Es wurde zu einer Sunna [prophetischen Praxis], dass es Mustahab [empfohlen] ist, sieben Mal zu beten, wenn man mit dem Salah beginnen will. Einmal ist wajib [verpflichtend], sechsmal ist Mustahab [empfohlen]. Natürlich gibt es noch andere Gründe, warum es sieben sind, aber ein Teil der Geschichte ist dieser.
Der Hadith lautet folgendermaßen. Es gibt zwei Hadithe. Der eine ist, dass Imam Baqir alayhi as-salam sagt: 'Kharaja Rasulallah salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi wa sallam 'ila as-salat wa qad kana al-Husayn Ibn 'Ali 'alayhi as-salam abta'a 'ani al-kalam'- Imam Baqir alayhi as-salam sagt, dass-'Rasul Allah zum Salat [rituelles tägliches Gebet] ging und dies war, als Imam Husayn sich verspätet hatte.' 'hatta takhawwafu an la yatakallam wa an yakuna bihi kharasun'- 'In dem Maße, dass einige Leute besorgt waren, dass er vielleicht nie sprechen würde.'
'fa kharaja bihi Rasul Allah hamilahu 'ala atiqihi wa saffan al-nasu khalfah'-'Rasul Allah trug Imam Husayn auf seiner Schulter, ging in die Masjid, und die Leute standen in Reihen hinter Rasul Allah zum Salat.' Fajarati as-sunnatu bi dhalik'-'und dies wurde zur Sunna [prophetische Praxis]'.
In einem anderen Hadith sagt Imam Sadiq alayhi as-salam etwas Ähnliches, aber mit einer kleinen Abwandlung, nämlich dass: 'Inna Rasul Allah kana fi as-salat ila janibihi al-Husayn Ibn 'Ali, fa kabbara Rasul Allah fa lam yuhiri al-Husayn al-takbir -'Rasul Allah sagte Takbir, aber Imam Husayn 'lam yuhir' bedeutet, dass es ihm nicht gelang, es gut zu sagen. fa lam yazal Rasul Allah yukabbir wa yu'aliju al-Husayn'-'Imam Husayn hat nicht gesagt Okay, ich sage nicht Takbir. Nein, er sagte immer wieder, und das ist eine gute Lektion für uns.
Wenn wir etwas nicht gut können, müssen wir es wiederholen, wir müssen weitermachen, nicht schüchtern sein, bis wir es meistern können. So versuchte es Imam Husayn als Kind immer wieder. Hatta akmala sab'ah takbirat fa ahara al-Husayn'-'Dann gelang es Imam Husayn, es gut zu sagen - fi as-sabi'ah' [das siebte Mal].
Diese schöne Geschichte hat also viele Aspekte. Ein Aspekt davon ist die enge Beziehung zwischen Imam Husayn und dem Propheten, salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam. Wie sehr der Prophet Kinder liebte, und er trug sogar sein Enkelkind auf der Schulter mit sich und brachte es zum Salat. Obwohl die Leute zusahen, empfand der Prophet nichts Falsches daran, so viel Liebe und Respekt zu zeigen.
Und dann die Wiederholung von "Takbirat al-ihram", damit das Kind es gut sprechen kann. Dies zeigt auch, dass Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam von klein auf dem Salat [rituelles tägliches Gebet] verpflichtet war. Selbst wenn er nicht in der Lage war, Salat zu sprechen, versuchte er, am Salat teilzunehmen. Und auch die Tatsache, dass er sich nicht scheute, den Takbir [Spruch "Allahu Akbar"] zu sagen und ihn so lange wiederholte, bis er gut wurde.
Und dies zeigt auch, dass das allererste Wort, das Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam sagte, 'Allahu Akbar' [Allah ist der Größte] war. Ich denke, dies ist nicht nur das allererste Wort, das er sagte, sondern auch eine Zusammenfassung seines Lebens. Sein ganzes Leben ist eine Manifestation, dass Allah größer ist als jede Beschreibung, als alles. Und seine letzten Worte sind das Gedenken an Allah, dhikr [Gedenken] an Allah, 'sabran 'ala bala'ika, rid'an bi qada'ik [Geduld angesichts des Unheils, das über mich gekommen ist, und Unterwerfung unter Dein Urteil] und solche Dinge.
Möge Allah euch alle mit der Liebe zu Imam Husayn segnen. Und damit, dass ihr, inshaAllah [mit dem Willen Allahs], wahre Anhänger von Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam und der ganzen Ahlu Bayt seid und inshaAllah [mit dem Willen Allahs], gute Helfer des Sohnes von Imam Husayn, des Enkels von Imam Husayn - Imam Mahdi ajal Allahu Ta'ala farajuhu ash-sharif [Möge Allah der Erhabene sein Wiedererscheinen beschleunigen].

Weet je wat het allereerste woord was dat Imam Husayn zei? Als kind, het allereerste woord dat hij zei. Zonder te kijken naar wat anderen hebben gezegd, kunt u ook uw idee zetten en misschien is wat zij zeiden niet juist. Je kunt zeggen wat je denkt of gehoord hebt.
Het is iets over Salat [ritueel dagelijks gebed]. Weet je hoe we salat beginnen? Wat moeten we zeggen bij het eerste begin van de salat?

Heel goed. Dus het antwoord kan worden begrepen uit deze hadith [overlevering(en) over daden en uitspraken van Profeet Mohammed (S) en zijn Ahlulbayt (A)] die ik noem, in'sha'Allah [met de wil van Allah].
Dus dit is een mooi verhaal. Volgens onze hadith, toen Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam een kind was, begon hij erg laat te spreken en sommige mensen waren zelfs bezorgd dat hij nooit zou spreken. Eigenlijk zegt de hadith dat: Rasul Allah hem op zijn schouder droeg, op zijn 'atiq'. En toen Rasul Allah vervolgens de Salat [ritueel dagelijks gebed] wilde leiden, zette hij Imam Husayn aan zijn rechterzijde. Imam Husayn, hoewel hij nog steeds niet in staat is om te spreken, maar hij wilde de Salat [ritueel dagelijks gebed] met Rasul Allah zeggen. Hij hield van Rasul Allah, hij hield van Salat, hij hield van Salat al-Jama'ah [gezamenlijke gebeden]. Het werd een sunnah [profetische praktijk] dat het mustahab [aanbevolen] is dat wanneer je Salah wilt beginnen, je zeven keer zegt. Eén keer is wajib [verplicht], zes keer is mustahab [Geliefd door Allah om te doen]. Natuurlijk zijn er andere redenen over waarom het zeven is, maar een deel van het verhaal is dit.
De hadith is deze. Er zijn twee hadiths. De ene is, Imam Baqir alayhi as-salam zegt: 'Kharaja Rasulallah salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi wa sallam 'ila as-salat wa qad kana al-Husayn Ibn 'Ali 'alayhi as-salam abta'a 'ani al-kalam'- Imam Baqir alayhi as-salam zegt dat: Rasul Allah (De Boodschapper van Allah) ging richting Salat [Islamitisch ritueel gebed] en dit was toen Imam Husayn [Allah's Vrede Zij met Hem] het spreken had uitgesteld.' 'In zoverre dat sommige mensen bezorgd waren dat hij misschien nooit zou spreken.'
'fa kharaja bihi Rasul Allah hamilahu 'ala atiqihi wa saffan al-nasu khalfah'-'Rasul Allah droeg Imam Husayn op zijn schouder, ging naar de Masjid, en de mensen stonden in rijen achter Rasul Allah voor de Salat.' 'fa aqamahu Rasul Allah 'ala yaminihi'-'dus Rasul Allah legde Imam Husayn op zijn rechterzijde.' 'fa ftataha Rasul Allah as-salat'-'Rasul Allah begon de Salat.' 'Fa kabbara al-Husayn hatta kabbara Rasul Allah sab'ah takbirat wa kabbara al-Husayn'-'dus elke keer zei Imam Husayn Takbir en dit ging zeven keer door.' 'Fajarati as-sunnatu bi dhalik'-'en dit werd sunnah [profetische praktijk]'.
In een andere hadith zegt Imam Sadiq alayhi as-salam dat is iets vergelijkbaars maar een kleine variatie, dat: 'Inna Rasul Allah kana fi as-salat ila janibihi al-Husayn Ibn 'Ali, fa kabbara Rasul Allah fa lam yuhiri al-Husayn al-takbir -'Rasul Allah zei Takbir maar Imam Husayn 'lam yuhir' betekent dat hij het niet goed wist te zeggen. 'fa lam yazal Rasul Allah yukabbir wa yu'aliju al-Husayn'-'Imam Husayn zei niet Oké, ik zeg geen takbir. Nee, hij ging door met het zeggen, en dit is een goede les voor ons.
Wanneer we iets niet goed kunnen, moeten we het herhalen, we moeten doorgaan, ons niet verlegen voelen, tot we het onder de knie hebben. Dus Imam Husayn als kind bleef het proberen. 'Hatta akmala sab'ah takbirat fa ahara al-Husayn'-'Toen lukte het Imam Husayn om het goed te zeggen - fi as-sabi'ah' [de zevende keer].
Dit prachtige verhaal heeft dus vele punten. Eén aspect ervan is de nauwe relatie tussen Imam Husayn en de Profeet salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam. Hoezeer Profeet van kinderen hield en zelfs zijn kleinkind bij zich droeg op zijn schouder terwijl hij hem naar Salat bracht. Hoewel er mensen stonden te kijken, voelde Profeet niets verkeerd om zoveel liefde en respect [aan Imam Hussain (V)] te tonen.
En dan het herhalen van 'Takbirat al-ihram' zodat dit kind het goed kan zeggen. Ook blijkt dat hoe Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam van jongs af aan toegewijd was aan Salat [ritueel dagelijks gebed]. Zelfs als hij niet in staat was om Salat te zeggen, probeerde hij Salat bij te wonen. En ook het feit dat hij niet verlegen was om takbir [het zeggen van "Allahu Akbar"] te zeggen en het herhaalde tot het goed werd.
En ook hieruit blijkt dat het allereerste woord dat Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam zei 'Allahu Akbar' [Allah Is Groter] was. Ik denk dat dit niet alleen het allereerste woord is dat hij zei, dit is ook een samenvatting van zijn leven. Zijn hele leven is een manifestatie dat Allah groter is dan elke beschrijving, dan wat dan ook. En zijn laatste woorden zijn het gedenken van Allah, dhikr [gedenken] van Allah, 'sabran 'ala bala'ika, rid'an bi qada'ik [geduld met het onheil over mij en onderwerping aan Uw besluit] en dat soort dingen.
Moge Allah inshAllah jullie allen zegenen met liefde voor Imam Husayn. En met het zijn, in'sha'Allah [met de wil van Allah], ware volgelingen van Imam Husayn alayhi as-salam en alle Ahlu Bayt en inshaAllah [met de wil van Allah], goede helpers van de zoon van Imam Husayn, de kleinzoon van Imam Husayn- Imam Mahdi ajal Allahu Ta'ala farajuhu ash-sharif [moge Allah de Allerhoogste zijn wederkomst bespoedigen].
