Loss - Reflections on Surah al-Asr
What is loss? Fakhr-al-Razi has a beautiful point here that many of other mufassireen have appreciated. He says one day, it was very hot, the summer. I saw a man who was selling ice, you know, in the past, it was not common to have a fridge so they used to have some kind of natural snow or to make it artificially and sell it. This man was saying, "Irhamoo man ya'dhuboo ra'su malih", please people have mercy on the one whose capital is melting.
It means that if I do not manage to sell this ice quickly, it is not that I am not making profits. It means much worse. It means that my capital by which I have purchased this ice is also going to finish. You know, sometime I buy something and I hope I can make some profit if I do not make profit and I sell it, for example, with the same price, or I sell it just enough to pay my rent, electricity and do not make any profit.
It is a khasara.It is a loss, it is zahr in a sense. But the real loss, the real khasara is when even your capital goes away. Our life is like this. It is like that person who was selling ice. And if he does not manage to gain enough by selling, then he is finished. He is going to become bankrupt. Our life, whether we like it or not, whether we understand it or not, our life is expiring. Our time is being consumed.
So we are in loss. Amir al-Mu'minin Alayhis salam, said "Nafasul mar'ih khutaahu ilaa ajalih". 'Whenever we breathe means we are going some steps closer to our deadline'. We are going closer to end of our life in this world. So certainly we are in loss, "illa" except unless you gain something which can compensate for what you are losing. So if one week, one day, one hour of my life has passed and I have gained enough. Which would compensate for that, I am not in loss, otherwise I am in loss.
Now this surah explains how you can compensate and save yourself from loss. "Illa alladheena aamanoo wa 'amilu assalihaat, wa tawasaw bil-haqq; wa tawaaaw bis-sabr" (103:3) Except those people who have Imaan.
If you have true faith, faith first of all, is a matter of conviction in the heart is a matter of submission to the Truth. And Allah is the absolute Truth, so if we submit ourselves to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Then we are faithful.

Wissen Sie, manchmal kaufe ich etwas und hoffe, dass ich etwas Gewinn machen kann, wenn ich keinen Gewinn mache und es zum Beispiel mit dem gleichen Preis verkaufe, oder ich verkaufe es gerade so viel, dass ich meine Miete und den Strom bezahlen kann und keinen Gewinn mache.
Es ist ein khasara.Es ist ein Verlust, es ist zahr in gewissem Sinne. Aber der wirkliche Verlust, das wirkliche khasara ist, wenn sogar Ihr Kapital weggeht. Unser Leben ist so. Es ist wie bei der Person, die Eis verkauft hat. Und wenn es ihm nicht gelingt, durch den Verkauf genug zu verdienen, dann ist er erledigt. Er wird bankrott gehen. Unser Leben, ob wir es mögen oder nicht, ob wir es verstehen oder nicht, unser Leben läuft ab.
Unsere Zeit wird verbraucht.
Wir sind also im Verlust. Amir al-Mu'minin, alayhis salam, sagte "Nafasul mar'ih khutaahu ilaa ajalih". 'Jedes Mal, wenn wir atmen, bedeutet das, dass wir einige Schritte näher an unsere Deadline gehen. Wir gehen näher an das Ende unseres Lebens in dieser Welt heran. Also sind wir sicherlich im Verlust, "illa", es sei denn, man gewinnt etwas, das das kompensieren kann, was man verliert. Wenn also eine Woche, ein Tag, eine Stunde meines Lebens vergangen ist und ich genug gewonnen habe,
was das kompensieren würde, bin ich nicht im Verlust, sonst bin ich im Verlust.
Nun erklärt diese Sura, wie man den Verlust kompensieren und sich vor ihm retten kann. "Illa alladheena aamanu wa 'amilu assalihaat, wa tawasaw bil-haqq; wa tawasaw bis-sabr" (103:3) Ausgenommen die Leute, die Imaan haben.
Wenn man wahren Glauben hat, ist der Glaube zuallererst eine Sache der Überzeugung im Herzen, ist eine Sache der Unterwerfung unter die Wahrheit. Und Allah ist die absolute Wahrheit, wenn wir uns also Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala unterwerfen, dann sind wir gläubig.
Cos'è la perdita? Fakhr-al-Razi ha qui un bel punto che molti altri mufassireen hanno apprezzato. Dice che un giorno, faceva molto caldo, l'estate. Ho visto un uomo che vendeva ghiaccio, sapete, in passato, non era comune avere un frigorifero, così avevano una specie di neve naturale o la facevano artificialmente e la vendevano. Quest'uomo diceva: "Irhamoo man ya'dhuboo ra'su malih", per favore, abbiate pietà di colui il cui capitale si sta sciogliendo.
Significa che se non riesco a vendere questo ghiaccio rapidamente, non è che non sto facendo profitti. Significa molto peggio. Significa che anche il mio capitale con cui ho acquistato questo ghiaccio sta per finire. Sapete, a volte compro qualcosa e spero di poter fare qualche profitto, se non faccio profitti e lo vendo, per esempio, con lo stesso prezzo, o lo vendo appena sufficiente per pagare l'affitto, l'elettricità e non faccio alcun profitto.
È un khasara. È una perdita, è zahr in un certo senso. Ma la vera perdita, il vero khasara è quando anche il tuo capitale se ne va. La nostra vita è così. È come quella persona che vendeva ghiaccio. E se non riesce a guadagnare abbastanza vendendo, allora è finito. Andrà in bancarotta. La nostra vita, che ci piaccia o no, che lo capiamo o no, la nostra vita sta scadendo. Il nostro tempo viene consumato.
Quindi siamo in perdita. Amir al-Mu'minin Alayhis salam, ha detto "Nafasul mar'ih khutaahu ilaa ajalih". Ogni volta che respiriamo significa che ci stiamo avvicinando alla nostra scadenza. Ci stiamo avvicinando alla fine della nostra vita in questo mondo. Quindi certamente siamo in perdita, "illa", a meno che non si guadagni qualcosa che possa compensare ciò che si sta perdendo. Quindi se una settimana, un giorno, un'ora della mia vita è passata e ho guadagnato abbastanza.
Che compenserebbe questo, non sono in perdita, altrimenti sono in perdita.
Ora questa surah spiega come puoi compensare e salvarti dalla perdita. "Illa alladheena aamanoo wa 'amilu assalihaat, wa tawasaw bil-haqq; wa tawaaaw bis-sabr" (103:3) Tranne quelle persone che hanno Imaan.
Se hai la vera fede, la fede prima di tutto, è una questione di convinzione nel cuore è una questione di sottomissione alla Verità. E Allah è la Verità assoluta, quindi se ci sottomettiamo ad Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Allora siamo fedeli.
