A Prison for the Believer
Salamun alaykum, wa rahmat Ullah. One of the points that helps us cope with the difficulties of living in this world, is understanding the nature and the essence of this world, and how difficulties will always be a part of our lives.
In a beautiful hadith, a companion of the 6th Imam came to him and he was complaining to him about the difficulties that he is dealing with. The 6th Imam told him to be patient and rely on Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. And then he put his head down, and after a while, he raised his head and he asked them a question.
He said, tell me, what is it like to live in the prison of Kufa? And this companion started to explain, he said, It's terrible, the cells are tight, and it smells bad, and it is a prison. And the 6th Imam told him: the same way it is difficult to live in the prison of Kufa, it is always difficult to live in this world, because this world is the prison of a believer.
The more we understand the nature of this world, the more we will be able to cope with it. Wa as-salamu alaykum, wa Rahmat Ullahi, wa barakatuh.
Salamun alaykum, wa rahmat'Ullah. Een van de punten die ons helpt om te gaan met de moeilijkheden van het leven in deze wereld, is het begrijpen van de aard en de essentie van deze wereld, en hoe moeilijkheden altijd een deel van ons leven zullen zijn.
In een prachtige hadith kwam een metgezel van de 6e Imam naar hem toe en hij klaagde tegen hem over de moeilijkheden waar hij mee te maken had. De 6e Imam zei hem geduldig te zijn en te vertrouwen op Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. En toen legde hij zijn hoofd neer, en na een tijdje hief hij zijn hoofd op en hij stelde hen een vraag.
Hij zei, vertel me, hoe is het om in de gevangenis van Kufa te leven? En deze metgezel begon het uit te leggen, hij zei, het is verschrikkelijk, de cellen zijn krap, en het stinkt slecht, en het is een gevangenis. En de 6e Imam vertelde hem: zoals het moeilijk is om in de gevangenis van Kufa te leven, zo is het altijd moeilijk om in deze wereld te leven, want deze wereld is de gevangenis van een gelovige.
Hoe meer we de aard van deze wereld begrijpen, hoe beter we ermee om kunnen gaan. Wa as-salamu alaykum, wa Rahmat'Ullahi, wa barakatuh.
