Remember To Worship On The Night Of Ashura

On the night of Ashura, Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, sends Abu al-Fadhl Abbas to the army of 'Amr bin Sa'ad, requesting one extra night: " li anni uhibb as-salat wa qara't al-Qur'an, because I love to pray and I love to recite the Holy Qur'an.

He wanted that one extra night so we can worship his Lord, be in a state of submission toward Him, and recite these ayat of Allah, 'Azza wa Jal.

Today, as we take inspiration from these days of Ashura, from reflecting upon the lesson of Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, we should also feel a sense of motivation toward being amongst those who recite the Qur'an, who spend these days and nights in prayer, and to allow for the tragic episode of Karbala to transform our hearts such that we are able to improve in terms of our subservience and our submission to the Lord of the Worlds.
