 QUESTION:
 
  Selamun'aleykum my respected brother

  My question is: is it permissible to wear a wrist watch that is of the colour
  of gold (such as brass gold) and not of the element itself.  If so
  my dear brother how about plastic gold charms on a silver or leather 
  necklace. I know this is a small issue but I still would like to know.
 
 
 ANSWER:
 
  Bismihi Ta'ala
 
  Gold as in its pure metallic form is haraam for men to wear. Artificial or
  Golden coloured material made of other substances to give it a gold lustreis
  not haraam. Thus to wear a golden wrist watch that is plated not with gold,
  but of some material that happens also to be of the same colour as gold is
  perfectly alright.
  
  Similarly, if you plate a silver necklace with some material that is golden
  in colour and is NOT gold itself, ther is no harm.
