What is the authenticity of Shab-e-Barat? Is it considered a Bidah? If not, can you provide its basis according to the Quran, Hadith, and teachings of the Imams?

Shab-e-Barat is the night of the 15th of Shaban. There are many Hadeeths in Sunni and Shia books about the greatness of this night. Among Sunni books are the following main books of Hadeeth: 1. Sunan Ibn Maajah, Hadeeth number  1388 and 1390 and 1389. Ahmad Bin Hanbal has narrated in Musnad  Ayesha Hadeeth number 26077 on the the greatness of the night of 15th of Sha'ban. In Musnad Ahmad a Hadeeth from Abdullah Ibn Omar, Hadeeth number 6353 in this regard. Even Ibn Al-Qayyim has mentioned in his book (Naqd Al-Manqool) three Hadeeths on the greatness of the 15th of Sha'ban.

Shia books of Hadeeth have mentioned many authentic narrations from the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) and his holy Progeny Ahlul Bayt (AS) on this great night. Kaamil al-Zuraat; page  331, Bihar al-Anwaar ; V, 98, page 413.

Does the Quran or any authentic supplication mention the practice of using Wasila or asking someone (whether deceased or alive) to pray on your behalf?

Yes. We have in Quran many verses to prove that:

‘First: In Sura Yusuf, verse 97. The sons of Prophet Ya'qoub said : O our father, pray for forgiveness for us from our sins. He replied them : I will pray pray for your forgiveness. If it was not right to ask someone to pray for your sins, the Prophet Ya'qoub should have told them not to ask, and he should have not accept their request to pray for their forgiveness.

Second: Allah (SWT) in Sura An-Nisa;, verse 64 is teaching us in Quran how to seek forgiveness. ( Had they when they wronged themselves (by sinning) come to you and prayed for forgiveness and the prophet prayed for their forgiveness, should have Allah accepting repentance and Merciful.

These are just two examples from Quran. We have many authentic Hadeeths from the Prophet (SAWA) in this regard.

It is not authentic to claim that angles are unable to recite Quran.

All the previous prophets including Adam, Noah and Ibraheem (AS) prayed to Allah (SWT) to Help them by the Waseela of The Prophet Muhammad and his Holy Progeny (AS).
