81. Jaddat Abi Tahir

Jaddat (the grandmother of) Abu Tahir (Ahmad Ibn 'Isa) was a bondmaid mother, and was also called Sariyyah.1

Her Merits

She was a companion and transmitter of traditions from Imam al-Sadiq ('a). Her grandson, Abu Tahir al-Taymi or Ahmad Ibn 'Isa, was the companion of Imam al-Hadi ('a).2 Shaykh al-Tusi has considered her to be one of the companions of Imam al-Sadiq ('a).3 'Allamah Mamqani has said, "It is clear she was of the Imamiyyah faith; however, her biography is uncertain."4 She related traditions from Imam al-Sadiq ('a).
