I performed Istikhara for marriage, but the outcome was negative. Is it possible to reverse this for a positive result? Should I consider leaving the man, or is there still hope? What steps can I take for a positive outcome?

It is advisable to act upon the Istekhara provided that the Istekhara was valid with all it's conditions. We can never control the result of any Istekhara and we need to submit to it and be sure that it is for our interest. If the Istekhara is negative, you can wait till the circumstances of the subject change then you can see another Istekhara.

What does it mean to perform a Faal, and how is it similar to Istikhara?

Faal is not similar to Istekhara. Istekhara is mentioned in many authentic Hadeeths while we don't have authentic Hadeeth teaching Faal. Faal is a type of guessing what will happen in the future which has not foundation. Many of our Ulama mentioned that Faal is not allowed.

Is it allowed and required to use someone's name, date of birth, and mother's name while performing Istikharah for marriage?

It is not required to mention someone’s name, date of birth and mother’s name while performing an Istekhara. Just knowing the person is enough as Allah (SWT) Knows everything about all His creatures.

Should I proceed with my marriage despite a negative Istikhara performed by my aunt, since we love each other and his father is now supportive? Can I perform Istikhara myself? Is there a possibility for the outcome to change?

The Istekhara done by your aunt is your Istekhara unless you have have requested her to do it on your behalf.

If she did the Istekhara with out your requesting her, then you can see your own Istekhara.

If she did the Istekhara on your request, and situation has changed, you can see another Istekhara again based in change of circumstances.
