Yes, it is allowed to stop consuming any food which you don't like if there is no big harm on your health by stopping it. Leaving any food does not allow you to claim it as Haraam or completely harmful. No one is allowed to claim any thing as Haraam, with out the authentic evidence from the Marja' of Taqleed.
Yes, eating shrimps is allowed in Islam. In fact, out of all water animals, only scaled fishes and shrimps are allowed to eat. All unscaled fishes and other water animals e.g. crabs, lobsters, oysters, shells, etc are Haraam to eat.
