There is a big misunderstanding regarding the knowledge of Unseen. The reason of this misunderstanding is mixing between different degrees of the Unseen. Absolute knowledge of the Unseen is with Allah only and this is the meaning of many Quranic verse which state that the knowledge of the Unseen is for Allah. Allah grants part of the knowledge of the Unseen to His most humble servants as we read in Quran ( They know nothing from His knowledge ( of the Unseen) except whom He wants). (Al-Baqara:255).

The Prophets and their successors including the 12 Imams have from the Unseen knowledge Whatever Allah grants them from His knowledge of the Unseen. There are many Quranic verse that Allah (SWT) granted knowledge to the Prophet Muhammad (And He taught you everything that you did not know) (4:113). Many other verses mentioned other humble servants of Allah who were been granted knowledge from Allah (SWT).

So, the Absolute knowledge of Unseen is for Allah only, and the part of it which is with the Prophet (SAWA) and the twelve infallible Imams is what Allah (SAWA) Has granted them. There is big difference between the Absolute knowledge which is for Allah all the times which does not come from others, and part of it which is gifted by Allah (SWT) to His most humble servants.

Thank you for your question. Only Allah is the all-Knowing. According to one prevalent view amongst the Shia, God has granted the Imams (as) privileged access to His knowledge as His chosen servants and as spiritual inheritors of the Prophet (saw).

Yes of course. It is good to discuss such matters with trusted person like your family members because they will guide you to the right facts and try to protect you from misleading information.

We should encourage our young ones to be more frank with their trusted family members in such matters.

What was the Divine wisdom of giving Khidr (a) more knowledge in certain matters than Prophet Musa (a) although Musa had a greater status?

Al-Khidhr (AS) was one of the sincere servants of Allah (SWT) who was
been granted by Allah (SWT) His direct knowledge علم لدني (surah 18 verse 65).
Al-Khidhr (AS) was more knowledgeable than Prophet Moosa (AS) in few
matters and not in every matter. The Divine Wisdom is best known by
Allah (SWT). Some of the Ulama say that it might be a procedure to
train Prophet Moosa to be more patient and to teach the believer in
all the ages to be patient and to seek more knowledge and not to
object before having full knowledge about the situation. After all,
Allah (SWT) knows the best of the Divine Wisdom as we believe that He
is the Absolute Wise and Merciful who knows everything in the past,
present and the future, that is why we firmly believe in His divine wisdom best known to Him and His messenger and the his Infallible successors.

What is the definition of 'Ilm? Is it true that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said that 'Ilm is to listen and think about it and teach others?

‘Ilm means Knowledge. There is useful knowledge which is mainly referred to in Quran and Hadeeths, and harmful or useless knowledge like knowledge of magics or ways of gambling or ways of manufacturing alcohol, etc.

We have hundreds of Hadeeths regarding knowledge and the great reward of gaining, teaching and practicing knowledge.

Hajj . Knowledge . Philosophy of Religion

Will I receive all the true blessings of hajj if I perform it while my knowledge of the religion is still limited?

Hajj is obligatory immediately when we are able to perform it. Knowledge about basic rules of Hajj and Prayers is must which is simple and can be obtained in short time. Less knowledge about general teachings of Islam does not mean an excuse to postpone Hajj.

You will get more blessings of Hajj as your intention is more sincere to perform this great worship and submit to and follow the Prophet (SAWA) and his Ahlul Bayt (AS).

The sincere performance of Hajj opens gates for more blessings , wealth and knowledge.
