An-Nahl (The Bee) Verses 61 – 65

وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ اللَّهُ النَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِمْ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ وَلَٰكِنْ يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ سَاعَةً وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ

If God had to take to task the people for their inequity, He would not leave on it (the earth) a single moving being but He respiteth them until an appointed term; so when cometh their doom, they shall delay it not (even) an hour, nor shall they bring it on before (its appointed time). (16:61)1

وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ وَتَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُهُمُ الْكَذِبَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ الْحُسْنَىٰ لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ النَّارَ وَأَنَّهُمْ مُفْرَطُونَ

And they assign unto God what they (themselves) 2hate3and attribute their tongues falsely that for them are (all) 4good things; Inevitably there shall be for them the (Hell) fire and they shall be the foremost to it.5(16:62)

تَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمَمٍ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ الْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

By God! indeed sent We (Our) Apostles unto people before thee, but Satan made unto them their deeds fair-seeming, so he is their guardian today, and for them shall be a grievous chastisement. (16:63)

وَمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ إِلَّا لِتُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ الَّذِي اخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

And We sent not down unto thee (O’ Our Apostle Muham mad!) the Book (the Qur’an) but that thou mayest explain unto them that which they differ6about, and (as) a guidance and a mercy for the people who believe. (16:64)

وَاللَّهُ أَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَحْيَا بِهِ الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ

And God hath sent down from the heavens water, then enliveneth He with it the earth after its death; Verily, in this is a sign for people who listen. (16:65)

Commentary

Verse 65

Some commentators interpret the mention of the life-giving water being raised from heaven and quickening the dead earth as the revelation of the Holy Qur’an and the world getting enlightened by the knowledge of the truth revealed through Islam.

• 2. Worshipping angels as the daughters of God.
• 3. Daughters.
• 4. Sons – or – good rewards.
• 5. Hell fire.
• 6. Such a polytheism, Dualism, Trinity, crucification of Jesus - his resurrection - heresy of Aaron and Solomon, about what is permissible & what is forbidden etc.
