Will Allah forgive me if I sincerely repent and feel genuine remorse for committing a sinful act out of desperation?

Of course, Almighty God forgives all sins, when we turn to Him, and repent and seek forgiveness. The door of tawbah is always open, but we need to always be careful that we do not be deceived by shaytan, or turn sin into an ongoing habit, where we casually engage in haram.

Repentance is important, but it is also a blessing from God, as He knows our level of sincerity and remorse, and how we wish to change our ways, improve ourselves and avoid sin.

Strengthening our faith and will-power will make us strong enough not to return to haram as well.

Is it true that the reapperance of Imam al-Mahdi (as) is delayed when a Muslim commits a sin?

The time of the reappearance of Imam Al-Mahdi [AS]is known to Al;ah. When he will reappear he will remove away all the injustice and the wrong and will establish justice all over the world. No doubt that the sinful acts of the believers can delay the reappearance,because they are supposed to be his followers and supporters and servants, and the reappearance need’s enough pious and obedient followers.

How can we effectively respond to non-Muslims who claim that Islam promotes child suicide by teaching that all children go to heaven if they die before puberty and their sins are not held against them?

Suicide is a major sin because it is a crime of murder and it is a result of another major sin which is loosing hope from the mercy of Allah. Every believer in Allah should believe in his great mercy, which is much more greater than any difficulty or hardship,people who commit suicide,do so after loosing hope and thinking that their problems have no solution,and by committing suicide they try to run away from the problems this feeling of not hoping the mercy of Allah itself is a major sin.

The fact that sinless children who die during their childhood will go to paradise is a part of the mercy of Allah[THE Exalted]. The most merciful,The most compassionate.

Can sins be still recorded on the Amalnama of a deceased person? If someone has committed such a sin, what actions must they take to avoid Jahannam?

A sin which initiated a continuous bad effect will bring more sins to the initiator of it, like the wrong sects or wrong ideas initiated by people who wanted their sin to be followed by others and has been followed already, so more sins with more followings of the original sin. The family of such sinner should do their best to stop the bad effect of that sin. For example, if the sinner had established an alcohol factory, or a place for committing sinful acts. If the original sinner told people wrong things about Allah, The Prophet or Ahlulbayt, the family should rectify and tell people not to follow the wrong statements, to see that the bad effect has been terminated. As good deeds which have continuous benefit cause continuous rewards, bad deeds which have continuous bad effects have continuous punishment. If the deceased took the right, did wrong or harmed others , his family should return the rights of others to them and seek their pardon for the deceased, so that the wrong deed initiated by the deceased is terminated and it's bad effect is been washed away.
